Based on university degrees in translation and interpreting (Diplom-Fachübersetzer) we have become full-time freelance translators focusing mainly on specialized/technical texts. CAT Tools
Computer Aided Translation tools are software programs that support the translators in their daily tasks and should not be confused with machine translation tools. CAT tools basically work with a two-column user interface consisting of source and target text segments. In the translation process, they store translated source texts and their equivalent target texts in a database and retrieve related segments during the translation of new texts. This makes the work of the translator more efficient and helps to ensure a consistent terminology use. We have started working with different translation software solutions in specialized courses when studying translation and have mastered the use of these tools during our work as full-time freelance translators. These project-specific database systems enable us to adhere precisely to the specific style and terminology guidelines of our clients. Furthermore, we can offer attractive discounts when using these tools, i.e. discounts on segments, sentences and whole paragraphs that have already (partially) been translated and on repetitions in the text.
